Friday, October 27 - Pandy's Breeders Crown picks by Bob Pandolfo

HOOSIER PARK

RACE 10

The Breeders Crown 2yo Filly Trot

7 SIERRA GIRL 6-1
1 SOIREE HANOVER 7-5
2 BUY AND ROUND 2-1
3 DRAWN IMPRESSION 6-1

SIERRA GIRL remains in good form and might be good enough to upset with the right pace set up...SOIREE HANOVER and BUY A ROUND are both talented and either one would be no surprise here...DRAWN IMPRESSION won her first three starts in Canada then broke with the big money on the line. She qualified twice then won her elimination race here from off the pace very easily while never really asked.

RACE 11

The Breeders Crown 2yo Colts & Geldings Pace

2 CAPTAIN ALBANO 2-5
3 BETTER IS NICE 5-1
1 NEWSROOM 6-1
4 STORM SHADOW 9-1

CAPTAIN ALBANO is not only fast but he's push-button handy, which gives driver Todd Mccarthy options because he doesn't have to rush things. This is certainly a good field but I can't go past this colt because fast and professional is tough to beat in 2yo races....BETTER IS NICE finished gamely to win his elimination...NEWSROOM speedy colt was used hard leaving in last and held the show...STORM SHADOW need to keep improving.

RACE 12

The Breeders Crown 2yo Fillly Pace

2 GEOCENTRIC 2-5
8 MY GIRL EJ 8-1
4 PASS LINE 4-1
9 BLUE PACIFIC 12-1

GEOGENTIC is undefeated in 9 starts and she certainly looked good winning her elimination race in 1:51...MY GIRL EJ will have to leave here to get into the race but she is consistent and in good form...PASS LINE made a nice move on the turn to go from 5th to the lead but she needed urging to hold on in 1:53. I thought she looked a little short in that race, but she does have 10 wins in 12 starts...BLUE PACIFIC draws outside but she has raced well over this track and driver David Miller has always shown a knack for overcoming tough spots in big money races.

RACE 13

The Breeders Crown Colts & Geldings Trot

5 TCI 4-5
1 KARL 9-5
4 SECURITY PROTECTED 14-1
9 SITUATIONSHIP 20-1

TCI beat KARL by a nose at The Red Mile in his last start, but his win two back in the rich Mohawk Million was a site to behold as he broke before the start, was tenth and15 lengths behind, regrouped under patient handling by Hall of Fame driver David Miller, followed cover 4th over, swung five to six wide turning for home and finished boldly to win by a length and a quarter...KARL's only loss in 7 starts was by a nose to TCI and this looks like another nice match up of two talented two year old trotting colts.

RACE 9

The Breeders Crown 3yo Fillies Trot

2 BOND 3-5
1 SPECIAL WAY 2-1
7 HEAVEN HANOVER 8-1
10 RAILEE SOMETHING 10-1

BOND has been solid all year for Svanstedt and she handled this track nicely in her first start over it last week...SPECIAL WAY was pretty far back off a slow pace in her elimination and finished sharply to win by two lengths; key rival...HEAVEN HANOVER isn't as consistent as the top two but she won the Hambletonian Oaks...RAILEE SOMETHING gets post 10 but but she has good gate speed.

RACE 10

The Breeders Crown 3yo Fillies Pace

5 SYLVIA HANOVER 2-5
1 STRONG POISON 3-1
7 TWIN B FRESH 7-2
4 ZANATTA 6-1

SYLVIA HANOVER has won 17 of 21 starts and this long stretch plays to her grinding style...STRONG POISON beat Sylvia Hanover in last as she set the pace but the pace will be faster here...TWIN B FRESH got away with a :28.1 first quarter and couldn't hold off ZANATTA in last, but both fillies are in good form. The key to this race is, if Sylvia Hanover paces anywhere close to her best, she's very difficult to hold off.

RACE 11

The Breeders Crown 3yo Colts & Geldings Trot

3 UP YOUR DEO 2-1
1 CELEBRITY BAMBINO 5-2
8 FRENCH WINE 4-1
10 TACTICAL APPROACH 4-1

UP YOUR DEO left well and was shuffled back to 5th but charged home gamely for a sharp win over the track last week.

RACE 12

The Breeders Crown Open Mares Pace

1 MAX CONTRACT 5-2
5 KOBE'S GIGI 2-1
8 GRACE HILL 8-5
6 DRAMA ACT 8-1

MAX CONTRACT has always been a strong finisher with a lot of class and she can also show early speed if needed...KOBE'S GIGI was a snappy two move winner in her elimination and she certainly loves this track...GRACE HILL was given an easy trip in last, obviously she can do better, although she is now 0 for 2 over this track...DRAMA ACT handles this track well and recent form is solid.

RACE 13

The Breeders Crown 3yo Colts & Geldings Pace

4 CONFEDERATE 2-5
3 EL REY 7-1
1 CANNIBAL 7-1
9 IT'S M SHOW 8-1

CONFEDERATE is a grinder but he can finish powerfully...EL REY won his first start for new barn and this colt has a chance at a price if the favorite falters...CANNIBAL should be gunning from the inside and he's a hard trying colt; his only disappointing finish was in the Little Brown Jug Final but he had a legitimate excuse in that race...IT'S MY SHOW doesn't always leave but I would think that they have to fire out here and try to get into this. If he clears the lead, the pace could be hot.

RACE 14

The Breeders Crown Open Trot

9 ALRAJAH ONE IT 3-5
3 SOUTHWIND TYRION 4-1
5 LOGAN PARK 5-1
2 IT'S ACADEMIC 7-1

ALRAJAH ONE IT is a pretty remarkable trotter with a powerful stretch kick. He came back off 6 month layoff for trainer Svanstedt and won all 3 of his starts last year, then this year as a 7 year old, he came back off a 12 month layoff and has won 2 of 3 starts with his lone loss a tough trip from post 9 over a 5/8's track. He draws a tough post and he's not known for his front end speed but he's capable of going a monster mile....SOUTHWIND TYRION hails from the same barn as the favorite, and has tactical speed to work out a trip. As a driver, Ake Svanstedt is winning at 30% on the year...LOGAN PARK is a game sort in fine form...IT'S ACADEMIC has gone his share of big miles for the Burke barn.

RACE 15

The Breeders Crown Open Pace

2 BYTHEMISSAL 2-1
4 PONDA HANOVER 14-1
3 TATTOO ARTIST 3-5
6 CHARLIE MAY 14-1

BYTHEMISSAL has raced well in all of his starts since coming off a brief layoff after the Haughton and he handles this track well...PONDA HANOVER is consistent but he tends to finish second or third against the best horses, however this race could unfold at a hot pace and it wouldn't shock me to see him upset over his home track...TATTOO ARTIST is the fastest horse in the pace. He figures to be on the lead but this year he's shown that he can rally from behind if needed...CHARLIE MAY can finish strong if he gets the right trip.
